Autumn 2008 – Holding Its Own
The venerable Upper East Side continues to forecast a solid future. Not since the 1950’s has the neighborhood experienced such residential growth. For the first
time in many years, there are endless opportunities in new residential developments from Fifth to East End Avenues, from East 63rd to East 97th Streets. This
includes 17 new construction projects that are recently sold out, completed or now “in the ground” as well as 13 rental-to-condominium conversions.
Whether new or re-sale, in pre-war or post-war buildings, all size categories continue to post strong sales, including everything from starter studio and one
bedroom apartments, to single–family townhouses and high-end ten-room homes. While the middle market one-bedroom and two-bedroom co-operative
apartments in doorman buildings are just beginning to show some inventory build-up and opportunity, the Upper East Side market does not appear to be subject
to the wild variations of the financial markets themselves.
With proximity to some of New York City’s finest private schools, top cultural institutions and world-class shopping, the Upper East Side boasts tree-lined streets,
wide avenues, convenient transportation, neighboring Central Park and the East River. The Upper East Side is truly a wonderful environment where one can enjoy
the best that Manhattan has to offer.
New York City may be at its best in the autumn – the air is crisp, the fall foliage is bright, gallery and theater openings abound, and the newest fashions are on
display in Madison Avenue boutiques. Come visit our Upper East Side offices on Third Avenue at 77th Street, or call one of our East Side sales specialists to
assist you in discovering the perfect new home.
